Who treats patients at Bareun Face Orthodontic Clinic?
The director, Dr. Kyung Hyun, handles every orthodontic case personally, from the first consultation to the retainer stage. One of the most useful things to check when choosing an orthodontist is whether the person you consult with will also treat you until the end. At this clinic, the same doctor carries out the diagnosis, treatment plan, adjustments and retention with the same standards.

What does board certification in orthodontics mean in Korea?
In Korea, a dental license is granted after graduating from a dental school and passing the national exam. A board-certified orthodontist has, on top of that, completed an internship and residency in the orthodontics department of a dental hospital and passed the specialist examination administered by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
| Title | Meaning | Granted by |
|---|---|---|
| Dentist | Licensed for general dental care | Korean government (license) |
| Board-certified orthodontist | Orthodontic residency plus specialist exam | Ministry of Health and Welfare |
| Accredited member, KAO | Meets the society's education and clinical requirements | Korean Association of Orthodontists |
Under Korean medical law, only dentists with this certification may present themselves as orthodontic specialists.
What do Invisalign certification and Invisalign Platinum mean?
- Certified Invisalign provider: a dentist who has completed Invisalign's training and can prescribe and plan Invisalign treatment.
- Invisalign Platinum: a status given to practices with a high volume of Invisalign cases. The clinic currently holds it. The status reflects the manufacturer's criteria; the actual plan is designed by the orthodontist.
- Certified Seraphin provider: a dentist trained on the Seraphin clear aligner system. Being able to use several aligner systems gives more options to match each patient.
A certification means a doctor can use a system; it does not promise a result. Diagnosis and planning matter more than the brand, and the right appliance is chosen after a CT and scan.
What kinds of patients does the director mainly see?
Phase 1 orthodontics for growing children (Invisalign First, Preortho, space management, guiding jaw growth), clear aligners and braces for teens and adults (including protruding mouth, retruded chin and asymmetry), and TMJ splint and bite stabilization. If the jaw joint is unstable, stabilization comes before orthodontics.
Questions worth asking at your consultation
- Should I start now, or can I wait?
- Which options, braces or clear aligners, are possible for my case?
- What are the expected duration, visit interval and retainer plan?
- If I have jaw joint symptoms, in what order will treatment proceed?
