What should you look for when choosing an Invisalign provider?
The same aligner system can produce different results. Invisalign software creates a first draft of the plan (ClinCheck) from your scan, but deciding how far each tooth moves, in which order, and where attachments go is the doctor's job. At Bareun Face Orthodontic Clinic, the director, a board-certified orthodontist, makes these decisions personally, taking root position, bone thickness and how the back teeth meet into account.
- Invisalign Platinum: a status Align Technology gives to practices based on the number of Invisalign cases treated per year. It shows experience, not a promise of results.
- Certified Invisalign provider: a dentist who has completed Invisalign's training program. The director is both a certified provider and a board-certified orthodontist.
- The question worth asking at any consultation is whether a board-certified orthodontist edits the ClinCheck plan in person.
How does Invisalign treatment proceed?
| Step | What happens | Time or interval |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Examination | 3D CT to check roots, jawbone and airway; face, bite and jaw joint evaluation | First visit |
| 2. iTero Lumina scan | Digital scan instead of impressions; 3D simulation of the planned result | A few minutes |
| 3. ClinCheck planning | The orthodontist adjusts tooth movement order, amount and attachment positions | About 1 to 3 weeks |
| 4. Wearing aligners | Attachments are placed; switch to the next aligner every 1 to 2 weeks; wear 20 to 22 hours a day | Visits every 6 to 8 weeks |
| 5. Refinement and finishing | Extra aligners if the result differs from the plan, then retainers | Depends on the case |
Which cases can be treated with Invisalign?
- Usually suitable: crowding, spacing, relapse after earlier orthodontics, deep bite or open bite, and with careful planning, extraction cases and protruding teeth
- Needs careful review: severe skeletal problems that may need jaw surgery, untreated gum disease, or a lifestyle where 20 to 22 hours of daily wear is hard
- Children: during the mixed dentition stage, Invisalign First creates space and aligns teeth step by step. When the main issue is jaw growth, it may be combined with growth appliances such as Preortho or a facemask.
How much does Invisalign cost?
Fees depend on whether it is full or partial treatment, the number of aligners, extra procedures such as attachments or mini-screws, and whether refinements are included. These are non-covered (out-of-pocket) fees under Korean National Health Insurance. Listed fees as of August 2026:
| Treatment | Fee (KRW) |
|---|---|
| Full Invisalign, Standard | 5,990,000 to 6,490,000 |
| Full Invisalign, Complex | 6,490,000 to 6,990,000 |
| Full Invisalign, Advanced | 7,990,000 |
| Partial Invisalign | Angel Aligner partial fee + 500,000 |
| Invisalign First / Angel Kid (children) | 3,790,000 to 4,990,000 |
The final fee is confirmed after the examination. There is no separate monthly visit fee and no extra charge for mini-screws. If cost is a concern, the doctor can compare Invisalign with other clear aligners such as Angel Aligner. The full fee schedule is on the Korean fee page.
What should you keep in mind during treatment?
- Wear aligners at all times except when eating and brushing; remove them for any drink other than water.
- Some pressure for 2 to 3 days after switching aligners is normal. If pain lasts longer, contact the clinic.
- If an attachment comes off or you lose an aligner, contact the clinic right away. A long gap in wear can stop the next aligner from fitting.
- The clinic is open until 8:30 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and until 2:00 PM on Saturdays, which helps with regular check-ups.
